Itasca has been one of the leaders in consulting services for subsurface environments and understands the uncertain nature of subsurface problems, providing engineering solutions to reduce the risk and increase the potential of success. Our multi-disciplinary team has knowledge and expertise in the analysis of geomechanical, hydrogeological, thermal, and coupled systems to better understand the growth and activation of the fracture structures in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Insights from microseismic monitoring, combined with the power of geomechanical modeling, provide a unique tool to help reduce risk and improve productivity in geothermal operations. Itasca was proud to be part of the Sandia National Laboratories' team selected, as one of two groups, by the U.S. Department of Energy to conduct cutting-edge research for EGS on a site in Fallon, Nevada.
Our geothermal services include:
- Geotechnical and hydrological property assessment, data analysis and uncertainty evaluation;
- Discrete fracture network (DFN) engineering;
- Design-assist services through interaction with other design and operation teams;
- Advanced geomechanical modeling to understand long-term reservoir behavior;
- Material assessment through inverse solution using numerical modeling tools;
- Microseismic array design, data management and processing; and
- Forensic engineering.
